Take a trip on a steam train on the famous Bluebell Railway

The Bluebell Railway are organising a special activity day for Girlguiding and Scouts on Saturday 21 June.

This year marks 200 years since the first railway was opened. As part of the Railway200 celebrations, which are happening across the country, the famous Bluebell Railway in Sussex is offering reduced price tickets for just £8 (for adults and children) and a special activity day for Girlguiding and Scouts members. This exciting day includes the Railway200 Exhibition, workshops for all ages and a trip through the Sussex countryside on the Bluebell steam train.

How to get your tickets

Email railway200event@bluebell-railway.com with the subject ‘Girlguiding’ and details of your group, including contact details, approximate numbers, age range, preferred date and whether you wish to take advantage of a free rail travel offer (most suitable for those travelling from London or north Surrey- see below). They will get back to you once tickets become available at the end of April. Get your request in quickly as tickets are limited!

Can't make the 21st? There's another activity day on 7 June. And look out for more activities and offers for Railway200 coming soon.

Information about the Bluebell Railway

The Bluebell Railway Heritage site is at Sheffield Park station near Uckfield in Sussex. The railway runs from Sheffield Park Station to East Grinstead, with a return journey time of around 2 hours. Find out more about the Bluebell Railway Heritage site.

Free travel offer

Southern and Thameslink have made a significant number of free tickets available to enable young people to visit Railway 200 at the Bluebell Railway. Girlguiding groups can use these free tickets to travel to East Grinstead, so they are particularly useful for units or groups based in London and northern parts of Surrey - see the map below. Those using these free tickets can visit the Bluebell Railway for the day and pay just the £8 ticket fee as above.
