Running Outdoor Nature Sessions Workshop

Since 2015, the RSPB has partnered with Girlguiding London and South East England region to increase opportunities for girls to engage with, and take action for, nature. As part of this partnership, we are pleased to offer a ‘Running Outdoor Nature Sessions’ workshop for Girlguiding leaders. This workshop, developed by RSPB and Girlguiding London and South East England region, is interactive and hands-on, with a focus on nature activities. We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in delivering this workshop to other leaders. Those who are interested are invited to participate in a training session with the RSPB.

This event is now fully booked. Please get in touch to register your interest for future sessions.

Requirements:
no pre-requisites, 18 years +
There is no need for prior training experience, and it is open to everyone. Attendees will be equipped with the skills and confidence to deliver the ‘Running Outdoor Nature Sessions’ workshop to Girlguiding leaders, so that the leaders can incorporate more outdoor nature activities into their programming.

About the Outdoor Nature Sessions Workshop:

The RSPB is committed to fostering stronger connections between people and nature, providing experiences that inspire children to engage with, and take action for, the natural world. This workshop aims to build the confidence of leaders to take girls outdoors to discover, explore, enjoy, and help nature. After completing the workshop, leaders will be able to deliver more nature-based activities as part of their Girlguiding programmes. The workshop will introduce a variety of activities that align with the ‘Have Adventures’ and ‘Take Action’ elements of the Girlguiding programme and are suitable for all sections.

Workshop Aim:
To increase leaders’ confidence in taking girls outdoors to engage with nature, resulting in more nature-related activities being incorporated into their Girlguiding programmes.

Key Objectives:

  1. Develop practical skills to integrate more nature-based activities into regular programme planning.
  2. Increase motivation to deepen young people's connection with nature through hands-on experiences, encouraging girls to become champions for the natural world.
  3. Raise awareness of the threats to nature and the positive actions leaders can inspire girls to take as part of the wider nature movement.
  4. Inspire leaders to enhance the ‘Take Action’ and ‘Adventure’ elements of the Girlguiding programme, creating more meaningful experiences for young people.

We hope you will join us in making this exciting opportunity available to girls across the London and South East England region.

Please note there are a maximum of 15 places. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.*
* If the workshops are oversubscribed, there is a potential to organise future sessions.
