We've had an Animal Adventure

Thousands of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and volunteers visited zoos, wildlife parks and aquariums as part of our Animal Adventure weekend in June.

Venues covered all areas of the region, from London Zoo in the north to Drusillas in the south, from Wingham Wildlife Park in the east to Birdworld in the west, and everywhere in between! Check out our social media channels and the hashtag #LaSERAnimalAdventure to see all the fun.

The best part of the day was laughing at the monkeys laughing at me laughing at them!

— Elizabeth, from Eastry Guides, visiting Howletts Wildlife Park

We invited units to plan their own adventures so we don't know exactly how many took part over this incredible weekend. But we do know that a grant from Girlguiding supported over 3,800 girls to attend and over 6,000 of our Animal Adventure badges have flown of the shelves!

If you've been inspired to have your own animal adventure in your unit by the end of 2024, there is still a small amount of grant money left and badges will be back in stock from mid-July. Visit the Animal Adventure page for more details and animal-themed activity ideas.

1st Lympne Guides had an incredible time at Port Lympne Zoo - though it's so close to home for us, we saw so many animals we never had before! The safari was fantastic, and the organisation of the event meant everything ran smoothly. We'd love to go again!

— Leila, leader in training

The region's chief commissioners team got in on the fun, meeting girls and leaders and handing out their exclusive region chief commissioner's badge at London Zoo, Drusillas Park, Howletts Wildlife Park, and Port Lympne Zoo.

Well done to everyone who found us, it was great to hear about what everyone was enjoying on their adventure, from seeing their favourite animals, to being with their guiding friends, or going on a train or bus for the first time. In the words of one of my Brownies it was the "BEST DAY EVER!"

— Amanda Teasel, chief commissioner
